In many companies and factories, we see a similar image. Obsolete material, overstock, purchased or produced items that have not been sold because for many reasons.

From one piece to hundreds of thousands and even millions

At the same time shortage of the same item or commodity

Need a car, wait

Need a warehouse, wait

Need a factory, wait

Waiting is frequently wasting of time

On January 10, 2021, I have published an article referring to the EUROPEAN COMMISSION news published just three days earlier. There was no reason to wait before doing that. In fact, it is quite interesting because the EUROPEAN COMMISSION waited more than five years to act.

In every factory and most businesses, there are buyers or members of the purchasing department who are responsible to buy material or products for their own company. Governmental bodies and municipalities have the same department, just the way of buying is more complicated due to loooong processes and deadlines and more.

What is common to all, is that none of the buyers look for existing resources or the ON-THE-GROUND-MINES, in the meaning of already existing and maybe used products, or secondary processed material, but instead of that he or she is looking for brand new ones only, ignoring the existence of the OTGM.

What is even more interesting is the fact that the buyers almost never look inside of their own organization or structure, but every time search on the market.

There are two reasons.

The first one is the habit

The second one is the professional blindness

Both cover the sight and eliminate to use the potential of USING WHAT WE HAVE, NOT WHAT WE CAN GET

With this many suffer from the high purchase price and at the same time on a lack of own space and financial burden related to storage of obsolete and finally waste processing including landfilling or burning of products that they purchase later.

Many realized projects indicate clearly the value of OTGM and the size of savings generated through the OTGM systematic utilization

It is important to MAKE IT TO STANDARD

SECOND FIRST

Same like many INDUSTRY 5.0 tools and rules this sounds strange but the same as many others it works well and it is a cost buster that is not only applicable immediately, but it is scalable as well.

Test it before taking your judgment and try to find “needed” in the house. You may be surprised what would be found and in some cases, you may not find exactly the item you are looking for, but many, which can substitute the original without any negative impact on the final result.

And please do not limit your search to the standard places and locations, frequently it is in very different ones, which can help you, to see your own business, facility, and processes with very different eyes.

Since 2013 I am doing that being impressed by how many treasures can be found and how many people can wake up seeing what they overlook for so long.
