WHY IS INDUSTRY 5.0 NOT DIGITAL?
Since the official adoption of INDUSTRY 5.0 by the EUROPEAN COMMISSION (January 7, 2021) and its integration into the European Sustainable Development Framework, many INDUSTRY 5.0 experts rise up and say INDUSTRY 5.0 is more digitalization, virtualization, industrial IoT, machines, robots, technology.
All are wrong
Seems to be a strong statement from a man without academic titles and scientific publications. The man without fortune and backup of large corporations, governments, or organizations.
I do not have any of those, but I have more FATHERSHIP the parents responsible for a child that I have carried for two years before delivering it to the world in a matter as all parents do, in silence and with love, taking care and watching its development since the very first moment of its life.

Watching his LINKEDIN profile I see no relationship with INDUSTRY 5.0 or practice, instead of that, I see a lot of theory and academic discussions and marketing for a company that was established one year after I started to implement the principles of systematic waste and wasting prevention in a real business environment.
There is a reason why INDUSTRY 5.0 started its journey with the Birth certificate named INDUSTRY 5.0 FROM VIRTUAL TO PHYSICAL.
It was introduced to correct the system issues integrated into the first full digitalization industrial revolution named INDUSTRY 4.0 and SOCIETY 5.0 and strongly funded by governments that place an order for the economic and industrial booster to their struggling economies.
When I recognized that “unlimited digitalization and virtualization” is the issue, why should I base the correction on more digitalization and virtualization that would have no logic behind it?
INDUSTRY 5.0 IS THE FIRST INDUSTRIAL EVOLUTION EVER LED BY MAN (HUMAN). It is based on the principles of systematic waste and wasting prevention applicable for industries and it recognizes four types of waste
- PHYSICAL WASTE
- SOCIAL WASTE
- URBAN WASTE
- PROCESS WASTE
Machines and technology (no matter how advanced) are just tools, part of the ON-THE-GROUND-MINES (OTGM) which are being efficiently utilized to deliver the results.
INDUSTRY 5.0 is built with and on HUMAN CURIOSITY, CREATIVITY, and ABILITY to CREATE and DELIVER RESULTS same as its role model NATURE which never asked if this or that idea can be found in scientific publications. NATURE delivers the life and ability to bumblebee not worrying about the fact it is breaking the “law of physics” understand by the man.
I do understand that it is easier to adapt an existing name, especially a name which builds up a reputation for almost a decade, but to try to change its meaning and function into a sales tool will simply not work, because EVOLUTION which started, can not be stopped, just slow down, before it will come with much bigger force and power.
My suggestion to all-digital, virtual, and machinery evangelists is to use the name INDUSTRY 6.0 instead. Except for a few mentions, it has no content and may give the opportunity to be the VIRTUAL-DIGITAL-REVOLUTION having own name which even higher number than INDUSTRY 5.0 has.
There is one more reason for INDUSTRY 5.0 not being digital. It is protected against Black-Out.
