THE MAN FROM THE SHELF

It becomes a habit to buy everything from the shelf

No matter if physical in the shop or virtual from the E-shop

We buy. Bred, Socks, Water, Bed, TV, Dolls, Book, and even the living animals can be purchased to be delivered.

We can buy almost anything from the shelf, but despite that, it seems like there is the only one who decided to live on the shelf.

He made the shelf part of his office. Build it inside and made it to his bad and private hideout for the moments when he needs to relax on his journey across the time zones.

For more than a year he uses it to learn if space reduction would allow him to work and live in the same place without delivering headaches or anxiety moments.

One day he realized he is the man from the shelf and started to write his story, the story of a man who lives on a shelf long before he has a shelf

It is estimated that there are 150 million people homeless all around the globe

This is the official number that is underestimated and can easily double or triple, especially considering the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, which indicates that 3–7% of people worldwide live without a roof above their heads, without a dedicated place to sleep, to live in, to call home.

In 2018 only refrigerated warehouses worldwide cover the area of 616 million cubic meters. Refrigerated storage counts for 10–12% of total storage, which means that there are more than 6 billion cubic meters of tempered storage in the world.

In more than 30 years in logistics, I have learned that on average 10–25% of shelving is empty or not utilized properly, which means the entire population on a planet can be stored in free storage shelves if we count with one shelf, one person.

But no one would like to live on a shelf

No one except for 150.000.000

No one except many thousands living in CAGE HOUSES in HONG KONG, people living on 16 square feet (1,4 square meters) who will love to live on 3,24 sqm (37 square feet) instead.

I may be the first, and I do believe that no one deserves to live on a shelf, but the shelves deliver the temporary solution to all, who do not have any place to sleep and call home.

There are thousands of buildings and facilities that can be reequipped with modified shelving systems that will deliver the basic opportunity and own micro-home to all, for whom micro can turn to the biggest gift in their lives having for the first times in many years a dignified place to sleep.
