THE EARTHSHOT PRIZE
Dear Prince William,
my name is Michael Rada and I do not know how to speak to members of the Royal family, but I know how to speak to a human, so I will do in my letter to you and I hope you will apologize.
I know you, as many around the globe, you probably never heard of me, as many around the globe. I am just a man (HUMAN) and this is what is written on my business card.
For 22 years of my life, I was an employee helping the industrial world to grow. In the 23rd year at the age of 42, I have left the second-largest Japanese corporation to change the world.
During the long professional experience, I have learned that no matter which industry, position or product I work with, all share one common topic ALL WASTE.
I recognized the volume of wasting and when my employer was not ready to change, I started my journey alone and set for my future day one and only aim, TO BUILD WASTELESS WORLD.
I recognized there is only one way to achieve the change and this is TO PREVENT WASTE HAPPEN, but no tools have been available back in 2013, so I developed them and create the INDUSTRIAL UPCYCLING methodology which I started to use in real-life projects in the factories of my clients. I taught them how to do and keep developing further tools to be implemented.
Companies keep asking for more and I recognized that more complex solution has to be delivered, this was the moment I started to develop the INDUSTRY 5.0 which was introduced on December 1st, 2015 in a globally very first published article related to the topic.
Since I started my journey of wasteless world the INDUSTRIAL UPCYCLING and INDUSTRY 5.0 prevented more than 500.000 metric tons of material and products to become waste and this is not all, results have been delivered in all four categories of WASTE which have been defined by me at the beginning of my journey.
- PHYSICAL WASTE — trash
- SOCIAL WASTE — people who would like to work but have no opportunity, due to age, gender, education, rase and much more
- URBAN WASTE — brownfields, unused or not utilized spaces, so as unnecessary greenfields and much more
- PROCESS WASTE — the EU roads carry 64% of empty trucks, 45% of global container trade consist of shipping empty containers, 55% in the rail transport
My rich business experience closely connected to the logistics helped me not only to solve the issues but to understand and see the complex picture which is the basic condition for the change.
By preventing waste happens, we do not help only companies and industries, we help people, nature, and climate, not on a local, but global scale.
In the years of following my aim, I never utilize any funding, incentives or donations. The only source of my income was the payment of invoices issued for the work delivered to my clients. This helps INDUSTRY 5.0 to become not the fifth industrial revolution, but the very first industrial evolution ever lead by man (HUMAN) and I am honored to be this HUMAN.
I spend a significant part of my seven days working week dressed in my boiler suit on the factories grounds working with workers to deliver them the efficient and wasteless solution for their everyday hard work.
The remaining time I share between the preparation of projects, calculations, and development of sustainable packaging and education on schools, universities so as preparing and delivering speeches for public, so as private events and I write articles for my blogs, newspapers, and magazines. My daily blog is dated back to September 2014.
I have learned about the EARTHSHOT PRIZE on the very last day of 2019, the same day I finished blog article dated to December 17th, 2020 and I know the year 2020 would be the year of INDUSTRY 5.0.
I do believe the EARTHSHOT PRIZE would help to spread the wasteless mindset globally and not only decrease the negative impact of industries on the environment but improve the life of all and everyone on the only planet we are able to live on, the planet which is our HOME, no matter which location we live in.
Dear Prince William, I do not know what are the conditions for participation in EARTHSHOT PRIZE competition, or what would be the reward, but I know, systematic waste prevention delivers results in the reduction of waste volumes.
It can be applied anywhere, with no limit to the industry, location or size, but the biggest improvement would be delivered by expanding the knowledge worldwide and your environmental price can help to achieve that.
I wish you and all members of the Royal Family the year 2020 to be not only filled with happiness, health, and good decisions but to be free of waste and wasting in all its forms.
