SIZE CHANGING, SHAPE-SHIFTING
We are changing our size. We do so during our entire life. Being born small, we grow bigger to shrink again when it comes closer to the time to leave again. It is not just us, almost all living creatures do so.
Many can do, what we hardly can, change the shape
Usually, they do this to protect themself, or to turn from prey to hunter.
During human and especially technological evolution, we have many times seen the change in the size of a device. Let's take the mobile phone. In just 30 years it has grown from big to small to big again. Arguments all the time are the same, user-friendliness. Same for cars and many more items
What we have not adopted is the ability to change the shape
It is a pity
It may solve many problems
Let us take for example the construction business
People build their houses to fit family needs. The house should be big enough to accommodate a growing family, but then the family members leave and the house stays the same big, but is emptier and emptier, with costs increasing.
The same happens with a car, or with a factory, with a city, roads, rails, and many, many more.
All are built big but utilized less as the needs and technology changes
We are able to build big and construct, but very bad at deconstruction. Instead of that we damage and destroy, calling it demolition.
Money and time are spent just on MORE ignoring the need for LESS which will come sooner or later.
One of the reasons is that Build Big is more economically attractive for the construction industry. The same as demolition is more attractive than rebuilding or repurposing. For example in the UK VAT is better for new build than repair, so are the incentives.
The same with WASTE PREVENTION, the possibility of SHAPE-SHIFTING is being ignored by the industries, despite the needs of society and its members, HUMANS.
We spend billions to put a few on the surface of the MOON or in orbit, but we are not willing to invest a few coins to apply solutions for billions.
Once governments grow, grow the number of people working in the administration and not a single head of the country, except for one in Argentina, started his career by cutting the number of people, so as the cost down.
SHAPE-SHIFTING is an important tool that helped NATURE to exist and evolve for millions of years, its absence in the HUMAN made ecosystem has resulted in just a few hundred years in catastrophic scenario, this is why I am so happy that INDUSTRY 5.0 found and restored the lost link
Do not look for third-party solutions, do not look for an APP, and do not search in shops and e-shops, the first who adopt must be YOU
Before you “build big” take into consideration how to “make-small” later
Have a nice time free of waste and wasting in all its forms, stay safe and free
