PRECISION 2 WASTE
During one of the fascinating INDUSTRY 5.0 TALKS with BILL McCLAIN Bill touched on a very interesting topic PRECISION
Not in a way it is seen by everyone, GLORIFIED, but in a different perspective. The first time the INDUSTRY 5.0 keynote “touched” the PRECISION was on November 28, 2020, two years ago.
It was prepared for delivery at a conference organized for the QUALITY control experts and it resonate well with the members of the audience.
It did not name the cause of a lot of waste so directly, but looking back the message was delivered together with the solution represented by the extended function of QC departments, experts, and the whole industrial segment.
It is very interesting how addicted we become to precision
It seems like without norms and exactness no product can exist
Today in the morning I woke to see the first snow of the end of the year in my city. It is November 19, 2022, and a thin layer of snow is covering the industrial city in the heart of Europe
I am sure you have heard that every single snowflake has a different shape and structure and two are not the same. Despite that, they are able to cover the entire countryside, and cities, deliver happiness and danger at the same time and no one complains that precision is absent.
You can try to go to Forrest or orchard and look at the leaves of a tree. Two will not be the same. They have the same shape but that's all. The tree can not only survive, but it also grows and frequently delivers fruits consumed by others and seeds that carry a new life inside, without a pre-defined destination.
NATURE is not PRECISE
This is the reason it survived all the challenges that as been faced for millions of years.
Instead of PRECISION, NATURE chooses ADAPTABILITY
The snowflake's “soft” body can cover any surface and copy any shape. Together, they can build structures stronger than other materials. They can be compressed with enormous efficiency. When no more “needed” disappear leaving behind instead of damage, a drop of life.
To come closer to similar efficiency of existence, we should try to reduce the unprecedented hunting for PRECISION and start to think about adaptability and usability instead, not only during the primary live cycle but secondary and tertiary one.
It is not needed to produce a bottle from the bottle after using it just a single time.
What is the perfect day?
A day that is different than all the others.
So why should not be our products and life the same every day, because of PRECISION?
The CORE TASK OF THE DAY
TRY NOT TO BE PRECISE
Have a nice time free of waste and wasting in all its forms, stay safe and free
