At the beginning of December, I started a new LINKEDIN challenge. It started with exactly this image.

The participants should measure (watch) their own “consumption” of toilet paper. Each family member, colleague, and student should have his or her own roll and watch for how long the roll will serve.

Despite the original hesitation, many agree and after twenty days delivered results, which was a big surprise for them, because the difference can not be bigger.

The following results have been delivered (speaking about average)

  • Men “consume” one roll in 7–14 days

Many various aspects are involved, but the numbers indicate ones, there is a significant difference.

The “toilet” discussion does not count as a standard topic in society or on social networks, so it was not easy to discover what is the difference in the way how the toilet paper is being used.

Speaking in technical terms, the difference is in the process and tact time

The first can be modified, and the second not

What is interesting, is that toilet paper is UNISEX or GENDER LESS and it even does not provide an advantage to right or left-handers, big or small and it is age-less as well. Despite the fact that paper was invented in China in the 2nd century BC we wait for the invention of TOILET PAPER, called MEDICATED PAPER till 1857, and around 1930 toilet paper start to look similar to those we find today. I remember well not to use ROLLs but sheets in CSSR were even in the 1970 and 1980´toilet paper scarcity was on a regular program, but this is another story.

Since then it become a bigger and bigger business opportunity. in 2020 the global toilet paper market size was 26B USD and in 2028 is expected to reach almost 40B USD.

Despite that, it seems like the innovations are limited to the number of layers, prints, and material reduction to scale up profitability. Best expressed in one British retail chain store

not welcomed by the producers because it will significantly reduce the volume of consumed paper.

I do not think that USE LESS is USELESS, on the contrary, it can be of benefit to everyone, except those who build their profitability on the volume. It seems like I am not alone
