There are almost 2,5 million LINKEDIN members using the title advisor on LINKEDIN. If you ask GOOGLE you get a little bit different number
because of not limited to one source of information. In fact, the first sentence you see just under the number of hits is following
“An advisor is a person who gives others advice or guidance”
The reason why I started to write this article on Saturday morning, December 3rd, 2022 was the fact the word resonate in my head and I have to release it knowing, it has a deep reason why it was sent in my direction.
In my work, I met many advisors, and many are presented, getting millions for advice, but in the end, nothing changes. Just recently the volume of ESG, CLIMATE, SDG, and CSR advisors boost to cover the needs including the regulatory obligation of every company to report.
Soon will the EUROPEAN COMMISSION introduce a new term and new advisors would be born, keeping the title on the business card, changing just the topic they advice
The issue is that despite millions spent on advice, the change does not come, and we instead of riding the highway to heaven take the slide to hell
The reason for me to wake up was the fact that the word broke behind my closed eyes into two parts.
AD
and
VISOR
The first means ADvertisement, Offer, or LOBBY
The second means among other MASQUE and PRETENDING
Can this be the true meaning of the term? Can a role that represents to many HELP and SUPPORT through KNOWLEDGE and EXPERIENCE become just cover for pushing someone's personal interest to those who will absorb it best because of the NEED FOR HELP?
The answer is YES
Not only that it CAN, but it DOES
A GREAT example deliver CARBON EMISSION TRADING which instead of improving the planetary situation makes it worse every single year is not only supported by actively promoted by the UNITED NATIONS, GOVERNMENTS, POLITICIANS, BANKS, and of COURSE ADVISORS, who push it forward integrating it into new systems
A few years ago I met one of the advisors who make it possible, a famous professor of psychology who was asked to make carbon emission trading to be appreciated by all, and he does his part, being celebrated by students and all, traveling the world for an unlimited stream of money, delivering lies to which he already believes himself.
I have many interesting discussions on the 7th-anniversary event on January 1st, 2022, and one of them was how to recognize INDUSTRY 5.0 fake and how to recognize the true intention of a company, partner, or even new employer.
The first is easy
The second as well, just ask yourself WHAT IS THE CORE BUSINESS
Let me provide a few examples
- WASTE INDUSTRY's core business is to MANAGE WASTE, not to prevent it from happening
- POLITICS' core business is to DO POLITICS, not to find, support or implement change or solution
- ADVISOR's core business is to DELIVER ADVICE he or she gets paid for best
- The AUTOMOTIVE core business is to PRODUCE NEW CARS not to care if every single one will find its owner
What is interesting is the fact that we can estimate the same for example the CORE BUSINESS of a product or solution
- RICE COOKER producer's core business is not to cook rice, but to sell other single-use products, despite the fact that already one device can cover the needs of other
- TRUCK OPERATOR's core business is to operate trucks having as many rides as possible, not the ride full all the time
- THE SHIPPING CONTAINER provider's core business is the same
- DISH MACHINE is a great business for producers of dishes and cleaning “pills” for you will need more dishes because you just created additional storage to store the dirty ones
- ELECTRIC TOWER's core business is to carry electric wires, nothing more
and so we can continue
You will be surprised by the connections and answers you will get
I hope my article helped you to understand that titles and roles are frequently not what they seem to be. Delivering the very opposite result than expected. It's not shame not to believe and ask
